What is Home at Last?
Home At Last is a residential option for individuals with disabilities. Home At Last provides individuals with the opportunity for inclusion in a ‘family’ relationship, independence with supports, and companionship. Host Families are recruited, screened, trained, and matched with persons with disabilities. Home At Last develops, certifies, and monitors those Family Homes.
What is a Host Family?
Host Families are private couples and individuals who have chosen to include a person with a disability in their family. Host Families come in all sizes, from a family of one or more. The individual and Host Family are carefully matched to provide the basis for a stable, long-term family living opportunity which is mutually satisfying to everyone. Host Families oer a supportive, clean, safe, and comfortable home to the individual. They open their heart and home to include another family member.
What does a Host Family do?
Host Families support an individual with a disability to live in their homes. They provide supports and services which the individual needs and wants. Typical supports include assistance with transportation, medication management, and learning to perform household tasks. Host Families also support individuals in becoming involved in their community and developing relationships with non-disabled individuals. Home At Last provides technical support, training, and monitoring to the Host Family. The Host Family is paid a monthly stipend by Home At Last for providing required services and supports.
